Considering The Female Man, by Joanna Russ

This has just been sent to the publisher, and fingers crossed it will be out in 2026. The paperback can be pre-ordered from Luna Press Publishing. The e-book will be available when the book has been set.

The Female Man has been my favourite novel since my mid-teens. My mother was a member of The Women’s Press Book Club, and each month we chose two books each. I was already a science fiction reader, so when they began (in 1985) to publish science fiction, they were obvious choices. In the first package were two Joanna Russ books: The Female Man and Extra (Ordinary) People. To say I was blown away was an understatement. The Female Man was the first book I read that brought together my second-generation, Spare Rib style feminism with my genre of choice, science fiction.
